If you’re using JK BMS for the first time, you probably already know that it needs to be activated before it can start working. But how can you activate it? In this article, we will show you how to activate JK BMS using different methods.
Method 1: Using a 2-inch display
If you have a 2-inch display for your BMS, you can use the button on the display to activate or deactivate the BMS. When the BMS is off, a short press on the button activates the BMS. When the BMS is active, press and hold the button for 5 seconds to deactivate the BMS.
Here are the steps to activate JK BMS using a 2-inch display:
- Connect the display to the LCD port on the BMS board using the provided cable.
- Connect the battery pack to the B- port on the BMS board.
- Connect the load or charger to the P- port on the BMS board.
- Make sure that all connections are secure and correct.
- Press the button on the display briefly to turn on the BMS. You should hear a beep sound and see some information on the display, such as battery voltage, current, temperature, etc.
- To turn off the BMS, press and hold the button on the display for 5 seconds. You should hear another beep sound and see “OFF” on the display.
Method 2: Using a manual push button switch
If you have a manual push button switch for your BMS, you can connect it to the LCD pin 1 and 2 on the BMS board. Hold for 1 second and the BMS will switch on. If the button is held for 5 seconds, the BMS will switch off.
Here are the steps to activate JK BMS using a manual push button switch:
- Connect one end of the switch to the LCD pin 1 on the BMS board using a wire.
- Connect the other end of the switch to the LCD pin 2 on the BMS board using another wire.
- Connect the battery pack to the B- port on the BMS board.
- Connect the load or charger to the P- port on the BMS board.
- Make sure that all connections are secure and correct.
- Press and hold the switch for 1 second to turn on the BMS. You should hear a beep sound from the BMS board.
- To turn off the BMS, press and hold the switch for 5 seconds. You should hear another beep sound from the BMS board.
Method 3: Using a 9-volt battery
If you do not have a display or a switch for your BMS, you can use a 9-volt battery to activate the BMS. Connect the positive side of the 9-volt battery to the negative end of the cells, the B- lead of the BMS. Then connect the negative side of the 9-volt battery to the P- lead of the BMS. Just touching it for a fraction of a second should get you the beep from the BMS and it will turn on.
Here are the steps to activate JK BMS using a 9-volt battery:
- Connect the positive side of the 9-volt battery to a wire with an alligator clip or similar connector.
- Connect the negative side of the 9-volt battery to another wire with an alligator clip or similar connector.
- Connect the battery pack to the B- port on the BMS board.
- Connect the load or charger to the P- port on the BMS board.
- Make sure that all connections are secure and correct.
- Connect the wire with the positive side of the 9-volt battery to the negative end of the cells, the B- lead of the BMS.
- Touch the wire with the negative side of the 9-volt battery to the P- lead of the BMS. You should hear a beep sound from the BMS board and see some LED lights on it.
- Remove the wires from the 9-volt battery and the BMS board.
Method 4: Using the diode test mode of a multimeter
You can also use the multimeter’s diode test mode to activate the JK BMS.This is a very simple method, but it doesn’t work for every multimeter.
- Switch the multimeter to diode test mode.
- Connect the battery pack to the B-port of the JK BMS.
- Connect the negative terminal of the load or charger to the P-port of the JK BMS.
- Make sure all connections are correct and secure.
- Touch the positive probe of the multimeter to the B-port of the JK BMS.
- Touch the negative multimeter probe to the P-port of the JK BMS. You will get a beep and the JK BMS is activated.
- Remove the multimeter probes.
